BUILDING CODE COMPLIANCE: MVN provided construction administration and owner’s representation for the installation of a building-wide sprinkler system per Local Law 26 of 2004. Field surveys of all the existing floors were conducted and comprehensive drawings prepared for use by the owner’s mechanical engineer. Prior to construction, MVN assisted in the bidding and interview process of qualified contractors. During construction, coordination was required to plan and schedule the installation of twenty-seven occupied floors with minimal disruption to the building’s tenants. To retrofit the building with sprinklers and the required infrastructure, creative solutions were designed to make use of any unused space. Custom mechanical platforms were designed to house sprinkler boost pump and control systems that allowed the combined sprinkler standpipe system to function properly.
